Powering The Off-Grid Lifestyle

Many of those with an interest in exploring the great outdoors are also conscious of pollution, a by-product of power. As we evolve, we continue to develop cleaner alternatives to powering our rustic lifestyle, while providing the creature comforts. The most common cleaner energy solutions are Natural Gas, Wind, Water & Solar.

Natural Gas To Power Remote Cabins

Although natural gas comes from mining petroleum products, natural gas is much cleaner burning compared to oil or wood. Because of the sourcing methods, nat gas gets a bad reputation, but again, the only by-product is water not greenhouse gases. This is a more sustainable product that is cleaner for the environment.

Hardness The Power Of The Wind

Wind power is becoming more and more controversial due to the side effects of the large power turbines. The energy creation itself is as clean as it comes, but as oversizes blades spin, there are adverse reactions to wildlife. Not to mention, the sight of a giant wind turbine is not the most appealing in a rural setting.

Water The Source Of Life

Quite literally, water is the source of life. Every human needs water to survives, but there are even more benefits that water power can provide. For remote locations with small streams, turbines can turn with the natural flow of water. With no by product like exhaust or pollution, water is very attractive. However, like with wind power, turbines in water presents a potential issue with wildlife and the natural flow of water.

Solar Power Solutions For Remote Locations

Solar is the most common and often most practical for most off-grid power solution. The sun is abundantly available to most locations assuming there is enough clearance in tree coverage. Solar takes a large investment up-front but pays dividends in the way of clean power for years and years to come. For right now, many federal and local authorities are subsidizing installation of solar panels which is the most expensive stage in implementation.
